CHEMICAL RESISTANCE CEMENT MORTAR

DESCRIPTION AND USES

Phenochem  is  Phenol  resin  based  corrosion  proof  cement.  Phenochem  exhibits  excellent resistance to sulphuric acid in concentration as high as 92%  and  is  principally  used  with  Acid proof brick to construct corrosion proof masonry sheathing  to protect reaction vessels, storage tanks, pickling tanks, and processing tanks. It is  also  used  in  the installation of corrosion proof floors.

One of the outstanding features of Phenochem is its excellent working properties. It can be easily applied using brick  layers  techniques  and  not  sticky nor difficult to handle. Phenochem is also available  for  special  applications  in  such  as  cases  where  an  electrical  insulating cement is required.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE:

Phenochem when completely set is resistance to all non-oxidizing acids dilute oxidizing acids and agents, salt and most organics solvents; at temperature upto 120 degree C. As  mentioned above it is especially well suit for service with sulphuric acid  and  phosphoric  acid at any concentration.

Phenochem is not recommended for use with alkalis, hot  alkaline  salts or  high  concentration of oxidising acids or agents. For use with alkalies modified Phenochem is recommended.

PREPARATION OF PHENOCHEM CEMENT:

Phenochem cement is prepared by combining Phenochem resin and Phenochem powder to form a workable mix. The mixing ratio is1 part resin to 3 parts of powder by weight. The ratio will very slightly  depending  on  temperature  and  working  conditions , the   mechanic   preference  and ingredients of fillers selected. When carbon filler is used for preparation the cement mortar 1part of phenochem liquid is mixed with 2parts by weight of phenochem powder.

APPLICATION OF PHENOCHEM CEMENT

Phenochem cement is buttered on Acid  proof  brick  using the usual brick layer’s method, where bedding and pointing cement  is  one. In  case  of  bedding  and  pointing  cements are  different Phenochem  is  better  for  pointing  to  the  joints  of  bricks.  During  and after completion of the installation the area must be dry and free from foreign matter such as construction dust, Portland cement, plaster and  other  contaminates  which  would  interfere  with  the setting of the cement.

STORAGE LIFE:

Store Phenochem liquid  resin  at low  temperature in the original unopened containers until ready for use. Under this condition liquid resin has storage  life  of  3  to  4  months. Store  Phenochem powder in a cool, dry place, in the original un- opened  containers, the powder has storage life of 1years.
